Extremities

Extremities

The extremities, arms, hands, legs, and feet are how we reach out and interact with the world. They carry us, support us, express our intentions, and allow us to connect with others through touch, gesture, and movement.

NB. Although legs are considered an anatomical extremity the legs in this course have sections of their own and have been taught in previous modules.

Because they are used constantly, extremities often hold accumulated tension that goes unnoticed until someone begins working there. Massaging these areas can feel both practical and personal. The way these extremities feel is a reflection of how they are used everyday.

Working with the extremities is an opportunity to practice listening through your hands, adapting your technique to different shapes, sizes and refining pressure, rhythm, and flow. These areas also offer powerful moments of connection, making them an essential part of a wellness oriented massage.
