This course teaches how to integrate hot stones into therapeutic bodywork. It moves beyond relaxation routines. Instead, it focuses on clinical application within treatment settings.
Taught by Registered Massage Therapist Roxanne Derkson, this training supports practitioners already familiar with oil-based massage work such as Swedish massage and related modalities including: Tui Na, Rolfing, Lomi Lomi, Kahuna, Reflexology, Spa Treatments and more. Because of this, the course supports practitioners who want to expand their hands-on skills with heat-based techniques.
Course Overview
This course focuses on how thermal input can be integrated into treatment planning to influence tissue response and regional patterns of tension.
Rather than using stones as a general comfort tool, the focus is on when, where, and why heat is applied based on presentation.
Areas of application include:
Spinal alignment related tension patterns
Scar tissue work and localized tissue preparation
Abdominal presentations including cyclical and digestive patterns
Hormonal related tension patterns
Regional guarding and protective holding patterns
The emphasis is on clinical reasoning behind thermal application, not routine sequence based treatment.
